Lori began her career in dentistry while in high school where she worked in the summer as a DAI for her family dentist. College opportunities led her down the path to pursue a degree in education from Gardner Webb University, however, an opportunity to work in a local dental lab would bring her back into the field of dentistry. Lori became a ceramist, lab manager, and eventually a lab owner. She owns and operates Athena Dental Solutions LLC – where she oversees the fabrication of dental prosthesis and provides OSHA and HIPAA Compliance training for dental offices. Lori is a Certified Dental Lab Technician and has recently been invited to study at the Dawson Academy. In 2006, Lori joined her husband’s practice as a DAII and Office Manager. Lori began a career in dental hygiene attending Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) in Charlotte. Upon graduation, she continued her education completing her BSDH from Old Dominion University (ODU) in VA. She is currently completing her MSDH and an MS in Global Health from ODU with an expected graduation date of December 2019. Lori is currently enrolled in the Community Dental Health Coordinator course at Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC).
Lori’s passion in clinical and organized dentistry in North Carolina have kept her and her husband very busy. In addition to maintaining a very busy private practice in Shelby, Lori is active in the Metrolina Component of NCDHA. She has served as Component Vice-Chair, Component Delegate and on NCDHA’s Annual Session Planning Committee. Lori is a member of ADEA, ADHA, and the NC Dental Lab Association. She also currently serves on the Dental Hygiene Advisory Council at CPCC. In addition to her hygiene duties, Lori has also been adopted as a liaison to the First District Dental Society to assist in the planning of meetings and events. Lori also enjoys volunteering with organizations that provide free dental services to members of the community and her dental lab also donates free dental services in these types of events.
Lori is married to Dr. Joseph R Hendrick, Jr, together they have four adult children. When Lori is not in the office or lab, she and her husband may be found enjoying one of their sports cars or taking an aerobatic flight in a historic WWII aircraft. They also enjoy traveling when they can fit it in around their busy dental schedules.
